To whoever may read this,
I want to be an archivist.
Not literally as my future career, but something I’d want to do in my free time. I love collecting and because I grew up in a family who found value and beauty in every little thing, I've come to enjoy the hobby myself.
There was a specific time last year where I got into the habit of collecting and archiving images. I had bought a database (a black binder with a white spine) where all the images I had printed out throughout the weeks were stored.
My database had no structure and the reasonings behind why I picked such photos would be hard to understand by anyone other than me. Still, the act of printing these images out for myself became a habit and at some point, I was printing multiple images a day rather than only a few on the weekend.
Sadly, to say the least, I became lazy. It was getting colder outside and the idea of leaving my room and walking to school just to print these images out for a few cents became daunting. Although my collection still continued to grow, the binder I had bought to store them in didn’t.
And that’s why I’m writing this piece today.
At first I was hesitant, not sure on how I wanted to explain this idea. But I guess in simpler terms, “I only have so much storage on my phone and this computer.”
So that’s why the idea of sharing what I’ve collected through here seemed like a good one. Not only is it a way for me to continue collecting images without going out in the cold or using up all my storage, but it’s a way for others to see the things I like. To relate to them or be inspired by them. To be weirded out by them or fascinated by them.
Because in the end, that’s the beauty in collections. So to whoever may read this, here are some of the things I collected this week.
Note: If possible, I will try to source these images.
